​​​​​​​​​Due to the interruption of work at Sokhna Port, and due to the fact that containerships are currently unable to unload their cargo at Sokhna, and are obliged to transit the Suez Canal to discharge their cargo at any of the Egyptian Ports along to the Mediterranean. 

 
The Suez Canal Authority has decided that the above mentioned ships shall enjoy transit dues exemption on their return trip on the following conditions :- 

 
1-Ship master has to provide a statement of the number of containers coming to Sokhna port. 
2-A certificate from the discharge port showing the number of containers that had been discharged, and that Egypt is the destination of such containers, and also showing the departure date of the containership . 
3-The containership has to make a direct return to transit the Suez Canal southbound without carrying out any charging operations . 

 
This circular takes effect from Oct, 22nd,2012 and remains valid until things get back to normal at Sokhna Port .(*)
