Adm. Ossama Rabiee, Chairman and Managing Director of the Suez Canal Authority, met today with H.E. Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt, Ambassador of Sweden to Egypt, to discuss avenues of joint cooperation within the framework of the close relations between both countries. The meeting was held at the SCA's headquarters, Al-Irshad building, in Ismailia.
The meeting focused on a number of issues of mutual interest aimed at promoting opportunities of economic cooperation. That is in addition to getting a closer look at the Suez Canal and its developmental projects that serve the global shipping community.
At the outset of the meeting, Adm. Rabiee expressed his pride in the fruitful partnership and cooperation between Egypt and Sweden, which reflects the close ties and close cooperation between the two countries. H. E. emphasized that this visit underscores the international attention the Suez Canal receives and its vital role as a major artery for global trade.
The Chairman of the Authority pointed out that the Authority has successfully enhanced the transit experience for vessels by developing existing navigational services and introducing new ones. These include bunkering, ship maintenance and repair services provided by the Authority's affiliated companies and shipyards, water ambulance, and others, alongside continuous projects to develop the Canal's waterway.
On his part, Ambassador Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt commended the depth and strength of the strategic relations between the two countries, reaffirming the pivotal role of the Suez Canal as a major route for international trade and a strategic pillar for ensuring the sustainability of global supply chains. He also emphasized the Canal’s considerable development potential, positioning it to become a global destination for advanced logistics services.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Adm. Ossama Rabiee presented the New Suez Canal shield to the Swedish Ambassador.
