Adm. Ossama Rabiee, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), received today, Monday, Mr. Derk te Bokkel, CEO of the Dutch Shipyard IHC, accompanied by a high-level delegation, at the Irshad Building in Ismailia, to explore future cooperation opportunities along with the presence of several members of the SCA Board of Directors.
This comes within the framework of the extended cooperation between the Suez Canal Authority and Dutch IHC Shipyard, and the visit is the first official visit to the Authority since Mr. Derk te Bokkel assumed his position as CEO of the Dutch Shipyard.
At the beginning of the meeting, Adm. Rabiee expressed his aspiration to leverage the longstanding partnership between the two sides to achieve greater success as well as working side by side to pursue a new strategic goal to explore ways to localize dredgers building industry at national shipyards.
The SCA Chairman lauded the exceptional performance and dredging rates of the dredgers “Mohab Mamish” and “Hussein Tantawy”, which participated in the southern sector development project, showcasing the advanced capabilities of the SCA’s latest maritime fleet additions built by IHC.
SCA Chairman added that the future unfolds promising opportunities for the continued efforts to enhance the SCA's maritime fleet by incorporating diverse dredgers and marine units aligning with the increasing demands for developing the waterway while keeping abreast of modern trends in eco-friendly technologies using the latest innovations in the global maritime industry.
For his part, Mr. Derk te Bokkel stated that the Suez Canal Authority remains a valued client and partner with whom we share numerous successful projects which make us ready throughout the time to discuss mechanisms and avenues for future collaboration.
IHC CEO explained that the shipyard adopts modern strategies for building dredgers using new technologies that enable operations with both conventional and green fuels, allowing choosing the operational fuels based on strategies related to cost and availability criteria that meet clients’ requirements and keeping pace with modern trends in the maritime industry.
