Adm. Ossama Rabiee, Chairman and Managing Director of the Suez Canal Authority, received Mr. Waqas Samad, CEO of Lloyd's List Intelligence, to promote joint cooperation and coordination, at Al-Irshad Building in Ismailia.
This is Mr. Samad's first visit to the Suez Canal Authority. It aims to provide a closer look at the SCA's various activities as well as its system of maritime and logistical services that are provided to its clients.
At the outset of the meeting, Adm. Rabiee highlighted that the SCA continues to develop its maritime services and solidify its pioneering position through ceaseless development of the waterway and modernization of its fleet of marine units.
The Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority emphasized that the SCA prioritizes its clients’ interests and needs. He explained that the Authority employs flexible marketing policies and has launched numerous green initiatives in line with IMO guidelines to protect the marine environment and reduce carbon emissions.
Mr. Waqas Samad, CEO of Lloyd’s List Intelligence, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to visit the Suez Canal and learn firsthand about its role in supporting the sustainability of global supply chains, despite the diverse challenges it faces. He highlighted that the Suez Canal serves as a strategic corridor for world trade between the East and the West.
Mr. Samad further commended the SCA’s ability to manage various challenges and crises effectively, as well as its consistent communication with clients to ensure uninterrupted and efficient transit through the canal. He also voiced his hope for the return of stability in the region, noting its positive impact on navigation rates in the canal.
Following this, SCA Chairman Adm. Ossama Rabiee accompanied Mr. Waqas Samad, CEO of Lloyd’s List Intelligence, on a tour of the Suez Canal. The visit continued with a trip to the Suez Canal Museum and the Maritime Training and Simulation Academy (MTSA).
It is worth noting that Lloyd’s List Intelligence, established in London in 1734, is a leading global provider of maritime data, tracking, and analytics for the maritime and world trade sectors.
