The meeting, held at the SCA's headquarters, Al-Irshad building, in Ismailia, was attended by Eng. Wael El Alfy, DEME Group's Area Manager, as well as Eng. Tarek Gharib, SCA's Director of the Dredging Department.

This meeting comes as a culmination of the cooperative relations extending over more than 70 years in dredging and marine engineering.

At the outset of the meeting, Adm. Rabiee expressed his appreciation of the strategic partnership between both sides, stressing the SCA's keenness on the continuity of joint coordination in light of its aspiration to keep abreast of the latest technologies globally in the field of dredging.

H.E. explained that the SCA has successfully modernized its fleet of dredgers through the addition of the dredgers MOHAB MAMISH and HUSSEIN TANTAWY; the Middle East's latest and largest dredgers. These two dredgers have effectively participated in the execution of the southern sector development project.

Adm. Rabiee also underscored the expansion of the scope of work of the SCA's fleet of dredgers that now executes mega national projects aside from the Canal like developing Egyptian ports and clearing lakes.

H.E. then explored possible cooperation opportunities in the field of maintenance and repair of dredgers and marine units at the SCA's shipyards, in addition to discussing ways of cooperation and partnering in the field of building the hulls of dredgers.

On his part, Eng. Amedeo Peyron, DEME Group's Area Director, expressed the Group's anticipation of further fruitful cooperation with the SCA, pointing out in this regard to the Group's participation in dredging works on numerous developmental projects in the Canal; most notably the New Suez Canal project at dredging rates of 41 million cubic metres using a fleet of 10 dredgers.

He added that the long-standing partnership with the SCA creates promising business opportunities of joint projects and exchange of expertise in the field of dredging, expressing his trust in the Suez Canal and its developmental projects.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Eng. Peyron presented a scale model of the dredger SPARTACUS; the Group's latest dredger, to the Suez Canal Museum in Ismailia in a gesture reflecting the deeply-rooted relations between both sides.
