Traffic through the Suez Canal has witnessed the transit of the container ship CMA CGM ZEPHYR amongst vessels of the southern convoy transiting through the New Suez Canal on its voyage from Singapore to Alexanderia Port.

This voyage is the tenth for container ships transiting through the Suez Canal after the success of the incentives and flexible marketing policies recently adopted by the SCA to attract transits through the Canal once more as Circular No. (3/2025) grants a discount of 15% to container ships of a net tonnage exceeding 130 thousand tons, whether laden or in ballast, for a period of three months from the beginning of the Circular's application.

CMA CGM ZEPHYR, sailing under the flag of Malta, was the first vessel in the southern convoy. It is 366 m. in length, has a beam of 51 m., a draft of 53 ft., a gross tonnage of 164 thousand tons and is carrying 11800 TEUs on board.

Adm. Ossama Rabiee, Chairman and Managing Director of the Suez Canal Authority, stressed that the SCA continues to provide its navigational services and implement mechanisms that maintain the regular flow of traffic through the Canal despite tensions in the Red Sea like adopting flexible marketing and pricing policies as well as provide new maritime and logistical services that were not available before to meet the requirements of clients under normal circumstances and in emergencies.

H.E. also stated that the new incentives and discounts have successfully attracted 6 CMA CGM transits in addition to 4 MSC transits through the Suez Canal; a step reflecting the extent to which shipping lines stand by transiting through the Canal once more immediately upon the restoration of stability in the region.
