Suez Canal Authority (SCA) participates in the 32nd edition of Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) that will be held from 27 – 30 Sept., 2023, at Port Hercule in the framework of the SCA’s plan to become a world-class yachting destination in the Middle East.
The SCA, as one of the partners sponsoring the MYS’s Captains & Crew Lounge (C&C Lounge), will shed the light on its masterplan aiming to put Egypt on the global yachting map. These efforts capitalize on Egypt’s unique location that allows it to secure a considerable share of that market; especially with the growing number of yachts in the Mediterranean.
The bigger picture, as is being executed by the SCA and in light of the government’s strategy, entails a comprehensive plan to develop 3 marinas in the Canal region. This plan focuses on increasing their accommodation capacity, increase their total areas, deepening the berthing area and raising the efficiency of their infrastructure to be up to international standards and enable them to receive various classes of yachts and offer them high-quality services.
This plan has two phases; first of which is renovating the Ismailia yacht marina and raising its capacity to over 100 yachts along with depths reaching 7 m. The second phase covers the development of another two world-class marinas in Port-Said as well as Port-Tawfiq.
On that same note, the SCA has launched a number of e-services that cater to the needs of yachts; including e-booking via the official website, estimated transit tolls calculator and e-invoice. It is also currently working on an online platform and mobile application to provide a smart access to all the available services for yacht owners and operators.
Enhancing the transit experience shall also be achieved through elevating the level of available essential services like bunkering, yacht repair, etc. That is besides the numerous recreational facilities like restaurants, a domestic tourism office, a gym, a laundromat, etc.
The MYS is considered one of the leading global events in the field of yachting as it attracts some of the world’s largest players in this market as well as specialized shipyards to discuss the latest updates and trends in this flourishing industry.
It is also worth mentioning that in order to further advance these efforts, the SCA is cooperating with a number of private-sector corporates; represented in South Red Sea Shipyard (SRSS), Felix Maritime Agency and Maxim Investment Group (MIG).
